Valdivia

Nestled in a maze of rivers, Valdivia is one of Chile's most attractive cities and one of its more culturally vibrant. Pedro de Valdivia founded the town in 1552, but the Mapuche ransacked it in the 1599 revolt. Dutch privateers n occupied it, but were also driven out by the Mapuche.
