Trinidad

Trinidad

The city of La Santfsima Trinidad (the Most Holy Trinity) was founded on June 13,1686, by Padre Cipriano Barace as the second Jesuit mission in the southern Beni. Trinidad (population 78,000, altitude 237m), or 'Trini' for short, is the capital of Beni, but it's still a backwater country town and the open sewers are a serious turnoff. Trinidad is a stop for overland travelers between Santa Cruz and Rurrenabaque or a place to or ganize a river trip on the Mamore. Unless you're updating a guidebook, there's little for the visitor.
