San Cristobal

San Cristobal

Set 40km from the Colombian border, San Cristobal is the capital of Tachira state and a thriving commercial center of 350,000 people. Spread over a mountain slope at an altitude of about 800m, the city has an attractive location and an agreeable climate, with an average temperature of 21'C (70'F). However, San Cristobal has little to offer tourists and is really just a place to pass through. It's a transit point on the Pan American route between Venezuela and Colombia, and you'll pass through if you come from or go to Cucuta in Colombia.
