Manta

With over 200,000 inhabitants, Manta is a major port and commercial center, as well is an Ecuadorian resort. It's named after the Manta culture (AD 500 to 1550). known for its pottery and navigational skills. The Mantas sailed to Central America, Peru and possibly the Galapagos. Traditional balsa railing rafts are still seen along the coast.
