Guayaquil

With a population of over 2.1 million, Guayaquil is Ecuador's largest city and has all the attendant hustle and problems of a major metropolis. Crime and traffic in the city center are two attributes often bemoaned uil can be manageable, safe and comfortable if you keep your wits about you. It's actually fairly charming, with striking colonial architecture, abundant parks and agreeable walks along the new malecon. If you're not enamored of big cities, however, you won't like this one.
