Encarnacion

Gateway to the nearby Jesuit mission ruins at Trinidad and Jesus, Encarnacion is in limbo as the reservoir created by Yacyreta Dam slowly inundates the city's riverfront. As established businesses move onto higher ground, the old town has become a tawdry bazaar of imported trinkets digital watches, Walkmans and the like among decaying public buildings and housing.
