Brasilia

Brasilia

Built from nothing in about three years, Brasilia replaced Rio de Janeiro as Brazil's capital in 1960. Today it's one of Brazil's biggest cities, with 2 million people. its chief creators were President Juscelino Kubitschek, architect Oscar Niemeyer, urban planner Lucio Costa and landscape architect Burle Marx. Unfortunately, the city was built more for cars and air conditioners than people. Distances are enormous, the sun blazes, and no one walks. Accommodations are expensive too.
